Three games of golf

The game of golf is an ever increasing popular game, played by millions of people. There are many variations of golf that can be played; here are three of the most popular.

Match Play

In match play golf two teams or two players play each golf hole as a separate game. Which ever golfer or which ever team gets the golf ball into the hole with the least amount of shots wins the hole. The winning team or golfer gets one point for the hole regardless of how many shots were played. If both golfers, or, both teams have taken the same amount of shots then the hole is drawn and each player or team receives half a point. The team or player that has the most points after all the holes are played wins.

Stroke Play

Stroke play golf is where every man or woman is playing for them selves against everyone else. Every shot of the golf ball is counted and the person with the least amount of golf shots wins. Every golf stroke is counted except practice swings, if your intention is to hit the golf ball and you miss that is counted as a stroke or shot. If you have to move the ball with your hands, this is also classed as a stroke. As with match play, stroke play can be played in teams. The winning team is the team with the least score.

Stableford

Stableford golf is played by playing against the par of the golf hole. Each player receives points according how many shots or strokes he made to hole the golf ball. The points you receive are as follows;

Two or more strokes over par and you receive zero points.
If you take one shot over par you’ll receive one point.
If you equal par you’ll receive two points.
If you are one shot under par you’ll get three points
If you are two shots under par you’ll get four points and so on.
